                          Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

1. Purpose

To establish a standardized procedure for providing immediate first aid in the Quality Control (QC) area to minimize the severity of injuries and ensure quick and safe response during health emergencies.

2. Scope

This SOP applies to all employees, contractors, and visitors working within or visiting the Quality Control department at industrial area and companies.

3. Responsibilities

  • First Aid Responders: Administer immediate first aid treatment and escalate if necessary.

  • Quality Control Manager/Supervisor: Ensure first aid kits are available, maintained, and staff are trained.

  • Employees: Report any injury or health incident immediately.

4. Procedure

4.1 Preparedness

  • First Aid Kit:

    • Maintain a fully stocked first aid kit in the QC department.

    • Check the kit monthly for expired or used items and replace them.

  • Training:

    • Appoint and train first aid responders within the QC team.

    • Conduct refresher training annually.

4.2 In Case of Injury or Health Incident

  • Step 1: Immediate Response

    • Assess the scene for safety.

    • Approach the injured person safely.

    • Apply first aid according to the type of injury (e.g., cuts, burns, chemical exposure).

  • Step 2: Minor Injuries

    • Clean wounds with antiseptic and apply a sterile bandage.

    • Treat minor burns with cool water and cover with a sterile dressing.

    • Record the incident in the QC First Aid Logbook.

  • Step 3: Serious Injuries

    • Call emergency medical services immediately (dial [Insert Emergency Number]).

    • Provide CPR or other critical first aid if trained and necessary.

    • Keep the injured person calm and avoid unnecessary movement.

  • Step 4: Reporting and Documentation

    • Report the incident to the QC Supervisor and Safety Officer.

    • Complete an Incident Report Form detailing the event and actions taken.

    • Submit the form to the Safety/HR Department within [Insert Time Frame].

4.3 Special Cases in QC Areas

  • Chemical Exposure:

    • Flush affected area with plenty of water (use eyewash stations or showers if available).

    • Remove contaminated clothing carefully.

    • Seek immediate medical attention.

  • Sharp Instrument Injuries:

    • Encourage bleeding gently to remove contaminants.

    • Wash with soap and water.

    • Cover with a clean dressing and seek medical advice.
