What is molality

Molality is the number of moles of solute per one kilogram of solvent. It is the measure of concentration of solute in solution. And molality depends on the mass of the solvent and independent of temperature and pressure

What is titration technique

Titration is a method to determine the concentration of unknown solution, which may be acid or base. In this method the titrant is added continuously into known volume of solution of unknown concentration until end point is reached which can be determined with help of color change using an indicator. Here the titrant is the known concentration of solution. If we measure the titrant consumed, we can determine the concentration of unknown solution.

What is a Buffer?

A buffer is a solution that resists changes in pH when small amounts of an acid or base are added. It is made up of weak acid and its conjugate base or vice versa. Buffers maintain a stable pH by neutralizing added hydrogen ions (H⁺) or hydroxide ions (OH⁻), making them essential in many chemical and biological systems where pH stability is crucial.

What is a mole

Why is Sodium lamp used in polarimeter?

The reason why sodium lamp is used in polarimeter is it emits monochromatic light at wavelength of 589 nm (the sodium D-line). Measurement of optical rotation is precise with monochromatic light.
