Why is Tablet Deduster used in the pharmaceutical industry
Tablets formed after compression will be associated with adhered powder on their surface. This powder must be removed to ensure a smooth surface and also to make it ready for coating and packing. If the adhered loose powder is not removed, it results in issues during coating and packing leading to poor quality products in terms of aesthetics.
Tablet De-duster:
To solve this issue pharmaceutical companies, employ DE dusters. These DE dusters are of two types and help remove the adhered powder particles from the tablet surface making the tablet surface clean and free from powder.
Tablet Deduster Types:
Uphill Tablet De-duster: The uphill de-duster operates vertically and contains a vertical uphill perforated mesh with dust collection and air system.
It mainly contains a vibratory mechanism with perforated uphill mesh made up of stainless steel. The tablets pass into the de-duster through tablet charging chute and enters vibratory dedusting system and move upwards through perforated mesh where adhered powder is removed along with aid of air shower system and dust is collected in the dust collection box and tablets leave the de-duster through tablet discharging chute
The dedusted tablets are then stored in a container and proceeded for next stage based on the production plan.
Horizontal Tablet De-duster:
This is a conventional type of tablet de-duster and is also made up of stainless steel and contains tablet charging and discharging chute, swirl baffle mesh powder collection system
Working of horizontal tablet de-duster
Here the tablets enter into the de-dusting unit through the charging chute of the de-duster and enters into perforated mesh with baffles, here the mesh moves horizontally around its own axis, resulting in removal of fine powder as tablets move from one end to the other end of the de-dusting unit.
Then the tablets are collected into the placed container.
