Standard Operating Procedure for Operation of Rapid Mixer Granulator

1.0 OBJECTIVE:
To lay down the procedure for the operation of the Rapid Mixer Granulator in the granulation area of the production department

2.0 SCOPE:
This SOP shall be applicable for the operating Rapid Mixer Granulator in the Granulation area.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

3.1 Execution: Production Operator
3.2 Checking: Production executive & Above

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:
Head of Department (HOD) – Production / Assigned Designee is accountable for ensuring the compliance of the sop.

5.0 PROCEDURE:

5.1 Verify the cleanliness of the RMG machine and area and ensure ‘CLEANED’ label affixed.
5.2 Inform IPQA personnel for line clearance and write the status label with Product Name and Batch Details for the equipment and area.
5.3 After line clearance open the bowl lid by removing the clamps.
5.4 Fix the mixer blade and chopper blade in their respective place and tighten them
5.5 Ensure the discharge port is in closed state to avoid material loss
5.6 Activate the compressed air valve to supply air to the impeller and chopper, ensuring adequate pressure and airflow

5.7 Switch on the main electrical supply &Verify the functionality of phase indicators and control panel indicators.

5.10 Load the granulation material into the machine and seal the lid.

5.11 Power on the machine. Adjust the agitator timer for dry mixing based on BMR requirements. Initiate dry mixing at the specified speed.

5.13 After completion of dry mixing stage, then initiate binder addition through the charging port as per the binder addition time mentioned in the BMR.

5.14 Granulation Process:

Open the lid to inspect and rake the material.

Close the lid and restart the agitator, setting the timer accordingly.

Monitor the process until reaching the desired endpoint specified in the BMR.

Halt the operation and open the discharge valve using the panel knob.

5.15 Discharge and Cleanup:

Keep an FBD bowl beneath the discharge point and open the discharge port and transfer the granulation material into the FBD bowl completely by running the RMG at low speed , scrap the material if needed and transfer to bowl

Now the RMG operation is completed and the FBD bowl is attached to FBD machine and drying of granules is initiated. and after completion of the granulation activity in the area keep To-be cleaned label to RMG
