Standard Operating Procedure for Cleaning Dust Collectors in Compression Machine

1.0 Purpose
This SOP outlines the standard procedure for cleaning the dust collector associated with the compression machine in xyz company

2.0 Scope
This procedure applies to the cleaning process of the dust collector for the compression machine at xyz company

3.0 Responsibility
3.1 The compression machine operator is tasked with performing the dust collector cleaning.

3.2 The Production executive is responsible for ensuring the cleaning as per sop

4.0 Procedure

4.1 Type A Cleaning
For changeovers involving the same product

4.1.1 The operator will remove the current label from the dust collector of the compression machine.

4.1.2 Wipe down the exterior of the dust collector using a dry, lint-free cloth.

4.1.3 Clean the suction pipe of the dust collector with a dry, lint-free cloth.

4.1.4 Affix the cleaned  label and document the cleaning process in the logbook, indicating Type A cleaning and get it verified by the executive.

4.2 Type B Cleaning
For changeovers involving different products Product to Product changeover

4.2.1 The compression machine operator will disconnect the wire plug from the dust collector.

4.2.2 Shake the filter lever to ensure proper cleaning of the filter.

4.2.3 Detach the suction pipe from the dust collector and transfer it to the washing area, securely wrapped in a polyethylene bag.

4.2.4 Remove and dispose of the powder collection tray contents into a polyethylene bag.

4.2.5 Detach the filter bag from the dust collector by opening the clamps.

4.2.6 Place the filter bag into a polyethylene bag, shake to dislodge any trapped powder, and move it to the washing area.

4.2.7 Transport the body of the dust collector to the washing area

4.2.8 Rinse with purified water.

4.2.9 Wash the powder suction pipe with potable  water, followed by hot potable water , and then with purified water.

4.2.10 Clean the filter cloth with potable water by soaking it completely for some time and finally with purified water, and then send the cloth filter for drying.

4.2.11 Dry the SS body and powder suction pipe using a dry, lint-free cloth.

4.2.12 Once dry, reassemble the filter bag and suction pipe, and record the cleaning activity in the logbook and get the cleaning verified by the executive and place in respective area
