Standard Operating Procedure for Mechanical Stirrer 

In the pharmaceutical industry, especially in preparing binder solutions, coating solutions, and many other operations mechanical stirrers are used. These are used for mixing of powders with solvents to get solutions.

1.0 AIM 

To establish the standard operating procedure for operation of mechanical stirrer

2.0 OBJECTIVE

To establish the standard operating procedure for operation of mechanical stirrer in xyz company

3.0 Responsibility 

• Operator is responsible for operation and cleaning of Mechanical stirrer
• Executive is responsible for checking the implementation of this SOP
• Head production is responsible for overall compliance of this SOP

4.0 Procedure 

• Before operation, ensure the mechanical stirrer is in cleaned state
• Get line clearance from the QA executive, before proceeding for the activity
• Ensure the shaft is properly fixed to the motor
• Now keep the shaft at required height into the mixing vessel
• Turn on the power supply to the mechanical stirrer
• Adjust the RPM to the BMR specifications using the knob provided for it
• Now add the materials to the solution preparation vessel
• After completion of activity, turn off the power supply
• Separate the shaft from the motor using the key provided
• Clean the mechanical stirrer as per cleaning procedure established
