1.0 OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this SOP is to define the procedure for the proper operation of a magnetic stirrer with a hot plate.

2.0 SCOPE
This SOP applies to the operation of the magnetic stirrer with a hot plate in the Quality Control department.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
Associate /Executive – Quality Control: Responsible for operating the magnetic stirrer as per the procedure.

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY
HOD Quality Control: Accountable for ensuring the procedure is followed accurately and maintaining compliance.

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Operation

5.1.1 Ensure that the magnetic stirrer and the surrounding area are clean and free of dust and debris.

5.1.2 Connect the power supply to the magnetic stirrer.

5.1.3 Switch on the device.

5.1.4 If heating is required, set the desired temperature using the temperature adjustment knob.

5.1.5 Place the beaker containing the sample on the hot plate and allow it to heat as needed.

5.1.6 Insert the magnetic stir bar into the beaker and initiate stirring by adjusting the stir speed knob.

5.1.7 Regulate the stirring speed to low, medium, or high as per the requirement using the speed control knob.

5.1.8 After completing the process, switch off the instrument and disconnect it from the power source.

5.2 Precautions

5.2.1 Always ensure the heater is turned off when not in use to avoid accidents or overheating.
