1.0 Objective

To lay down the procedure for the cleaning of the Vibro Sifter to ensure cleanliness and avoid cross-contamination.

2.0 Scope

This SOP is applicable for the cleaning of the Vibro Sifter used in the [Production Department] at [Company Name].

3.0 Responsibility

• Vibro Sifter: A vibrating screen used for separating or sieving particles based on size.

• Product-to-Product Changeover: Changeover between different products.

• Batch-to-Batch Cleaning: Cleaning done between batches of the same product.

5.0 Materials and Equipment Required

• Clean lint-free cloths

• Nylon brush or soft-bristled brush

• Approved cleaning agent (e.g., purified water, detergent)

• Disinfectant (if required)

• Cleaning logbook

• PPE: Gloves, mask, apron, etc.

• Label: “Cleaned” / “To Be Cleaned”

6.0 Procedure

6.1 Precautions

• Wear appropriate PPE before starting.

• Ensure power supply to the equipment is switched off and locked out.

6.2 Type of Cleaning

A. Batch-to-Batch Cleaning (Same Product)

1. Switch off the power supply.

2. Open the lid of the sifter and remove the screen carefully.

3. Clean the screen with a dry nylon brush.

4. Wipe the inside of the sifter body and lid with a dry lint-free cloth.

5. Inspect for any residue or foreign material.

6. Reassemble the equipment and affix the “Cleaned” status label.

B. Product Changeover / Deep Cleaning

1. Switch off and lock out the power supply.

2. Dismantle all detachable parts: lid, screen, ring, gaskets, etc.

3. Clean each part separately using a nylon brush and approved cleaning agent.

4. Rinse thoroughly with purified water.

5. If required, disinfect with an approved disinfectant.

6. Dry all parts completely using lint-free cloth or air dry.

7. Wipe the sifter body (interior & exterior) with cleaning agent, rinse, and dry.

8. Inspect all parts for cleanliness and wear.

9. Reassemble all components properly.

10. Affix the “Cleaned” status label with date and signature.

7.0 Cleaning Frequency

• Batch-to-batch: After each batch

• Product-to-product: Before starting a new product

• Weekly or as per schedule: Preventive cleaning if not used

8.0 Documentation

• Record all cleaning activities in the Vibro Sifter Cleaning Logbook.

• Include:

  • Date & time

  • Type of cleaning

  • Product name

  • Operator & supervisor signatures
