Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
1. Purpose
To define the procedure for cleaning the Halogen Moisture Analyzer to maintain its accuracy, precision, and extend the instrument’s lifespan.
2. Scope
This procedure applies to all personnel responsible for operating and maintaining the Halogen Moisture Analyzer in [Company/Laboratory Name].
3. Responsibilities

Operator: Perform cleaning as per the procedure after every use and record the activity.

Supervisor/Manager: Ensure that cleaning is performed and documented correctly.
4. Materials Required

Lint-free cloth

Soft brush
-
Isopropyl alcohol (70% solution) or approved cleaning agent

Mild detergent solution (if necessary)

Gloves

Protective eyewear

Cleaning logbook
5. Safety Precautions

Always switch off and unplug the analyzer before cleaning.

Allow the heating element to cool down fully before touching.

Avoid using abrasive materials or excessive liquids.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves and safety glasses.
6. Procedure
6.1 Routine Cleaning (After Each Use)

Turn off and unplug the Halogen Moisture Analyzer.

Allow the heating element to cool down completely.

Remove the sample pan carefully.

Wipe the sample pan and heating area with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

Use a soft brush to remove any loose particles or debris from the weighing and heating area.

Ensure no cleaning liquid enters the weighing mechanism or internal electronics.

Dry the cleaned areas with a dry lint-free cloth.

Reassemble all parts properly after cleaning.
6.2 Deep Cleaning (Weekly or as Needed)

Follow all steps under Routine Cleaning.

Inspect for stubborn residues or sample spills inside the heater cover.

If required, use a mild detergent solution followed by a wipe with isopropyl alcohol.

Wipe external surfaces with a clean damp cloth.

Verify functionality by running a calibration or performance check if necessary.
