Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
1.0 Objective
To lay down the procedure for cleaning the Fluidised Bed Dryer (FBD) to ensure proper hygiene and avoid cross-contamination between products or batches.
2.0 Scope
This SOP applies to the cleaning of the FBD located in the production area of [Company Name].

4.0 Definitions

5.0 Materials and Equipment Required

Approved cleaning agents (detergents, purified water, disinfectants)

Nylon brushes

Buckets

PPE: gloves, apron, mask, goggles

Cleaning status label (“Cleaned” / “To Be Cleaned”)

6.0 Procedure
6.1 Safety Precautions
-
Ensure the equipment is switched OFF and power supply disconnected.
-
Wear proper PPE during the entire cleaning process.
-
Ensure the area is clean and no material is exposed.
6.2 Type of Cleaning
A. Batch-to-Batch Cleaning (Same Product)
-
Switch off and isolate the power.
-
Remove the product container and filter bag.
-
Wipe the inner chamber, bowl, and container with a dry lint-free cloth.
-
Check for any residual granules or dust; remove with a dry brush if needed.
-
Clean the control panel and outer surfaces with a damp cloth.
-
Reassemble the components and label as “Cleaned.”
B. Product Changeover / Deep Cleaning

Switch off and lock the power supply.

Dismantle the following:

Product container
-
Bowl
-
Filter bag
-
Air filter (if applicable)
-

Clean all parts using approved detergent solution and a nylon brush.
-
Rinse thoroughly with purified water.
-
If required, disinfect with an approved disinfectant.
-
Dry all parts with a lint-free cloth or air dry in a clean area.
-
Wipe the inner and outer body of the FBD.
-
Inspect all areas for cleanliness.

Reassemble the equipment.

Affix the “Cleaned” label with date, time, and signature.
7.0 Cleaning Frequency

Batch-to-batch: After every batch of the same product

Product-to-product: Before switching to a different product
-
Weekly / Preventive: If not used within a set period
