Personal Hygiene

1. Purpose
To establish guidelines for maintaining personal hygiene of all personnel to ensure product safety, prevent contamination, and maintain a clean working environment.
2. Scope
This SOP applies to all employees, contract workers, visitors, and service personnel entering or working in production, laboratory, storage, and controlled areas.
3. Responsibilities

All Employees – To strictly follow personal hygiene practices.

Supervisors/Managers – To monitor compliance with hygiene requirements.

Quality Assurance (QA) – To verify adherence during audits and inspections.
4. Procedure

General Hygiene Requirements
-
Personnel must bathe daily and maintain clean hair, nails, and body.
-
Use deodorant but avoid strong perfumes or scented products.
-
Keep fingernails short, clean, and free from nail polish or artificial nails.

Facial hair (if allowed) must be neatly trimmed and covered as required.

Clothing & Protective Wear

Wear company-approved clean uniforms, lab coats, and PPE (hairnets, masks, gloves, shoe covers).

Change uniforms if visibly soiled or after contamination.

Outdoor clothing and personal items (jewelry, watches, cosmetics) are prohibited inside controlled areas.

Hand Hygiene

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before starting work, after breaks, and after using the restroom.

Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer where required.

Avoid touching face, hair, or personal items during work.

Eating, Drinking & Smoking Restrictions

Eating, drinking, chewing gum, and smoking are strictly prohibited in production, laboratory, and storage areas.

Food and beverages must only be consumed in designated cafeteria or break areas.

Health Conditions

Report any illness, cuts, wounds, or skin infections immediately to the supervisor/HR.

Sick employees must not handle products until cleared by medical staff.

Bandages, if worn, must be covered with gloves.

Visitor Hygiene
-
All visitors must comply with hygiene and PPE requirements before entering controlled areas.

Hygiene compliance records, training records, and health declarations shall be maintained.
