CGHS – Pharmacist – How do I get the job??

Most of us want to get into a government job, if you too wish to become so, here in this article we will learn how to become a government pharmacist in CGHS hospitals and what the process is to get into this job.

To become a pharmacist under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) in India, here is a step-by-step guide, especially with the release of 700+ pharmacist vacancies expected this year.

1. Educational Qualifications:

  • You must have a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) degree from a recognized institution.
  • You also need to be a registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) or a State Pharmacy Council.

2. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Requirement: The age limit for candidates applying for these positions is between 18 and 27 years.

3. Recruitment Process:

  • The selection process involves a Computer-Based Test (CBT). Candidates will be evaluated on their knowledge of pharmacy-related subjects, general awareness, and reasoning.
  • The CBT will cover topics such as:
    • Pharmaceutical Chemistry
    • Pharmacology
    • Pharmacognosy
    • Pharmacy Practice etc
    • Additional sections will assess skills in English, general knowledge, and logical reasoning.
  • After passing the CBT, candidates will go through a document verification process to confirm their eligibility, such as educational qualifications and pharmacist registration status.
  • Finally, shortlisted candidates will need to pass a medical fitness test to confirm their selection.

4. How to Apply:

  • When the recruitment notification is announced, candidates need to submit their applications online through specified government portal.
    • Fill out the application form with accurate information.
    • Upload necessary documents like photo , signature
    • Pay the application fee online.
  • Once your application is accepted, you will be issued an admit card to appear for the CBT.

5. Salary and Job Role:

  • The pharmacist positions fall under Group C posts, with a salary ranging between ₹27,000 and ₹92,000 per month.
  • As a CGHS pharmacist, your responsibilities will include dispensing medications, managing pharmacy inventories, and providing healthcare services in government dispensaries or hospitals.

6. Preparation Tips:

  • Focus on strengthening your knowledge in core pharmacy subjects, particularly pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, and pharmacognosy.
  • Prepare for the general knowledge and reasoning sections using reliable study materials.
  • Practice with previous year’s papers and mock tests to get familiar with the CBT exam format.
